Why Brighton Center for Recovery

Jeff

The goal of Brighton Center for Recovery is to fight drug and alcohol addiction and help individuals live a life of sobriety.  Since 1950 we have been helping patients to achieve this goal.  Their stories are an inspiration to all that hear them.  They give hope to those who need it most.  This is Jeff and here is his story:

“I spent 34 years of my life drinking. The first 30 of those years were relatively uneventful. Then the drinking progressed. I became powerless under alcohol — life became unmanageable. My wife made arrangements for me to come to Brighton Center for Recovery. When I first entered treatment I couldn’t even hold a piece of paper. I reached a point where I was never sober and never drunk. My body needed the alcohol and couldn’t function without it.”

“My life has changed 180 degrees since then. The Brighton staff members are incredibly effective because they’ve been in the same dark spot. They help you understand that you’re not alone. Brighton Center for Recovery is a place for beginnings. Today I have an unbelievably positive outlook on life and can deal with whatever it throws my way. I’m sober and have serenity, and that’s a miracle.”

As with any addiction, the more you know, the better chance you have to overcome it.  Alcohol addiction is no different.  Education is key and the foundation to achieving sobriety.  Jeff’s story is similar to so many that we have seen over the years at Brighton Center for Recovery.  Every day he depended on drinking, but after getting help at our facility, his life was completely transformed.  As Jeff mentioned, it was a new beginning for him.  That first step is often the hardest to take, but it sets you on a path for living a clean and sober lifestyle.  Jeff’s alcohol treatment success story is just one of the thousands that we have witnessed over the years at Brighton Center for Recovery.  A typical treatment program involves individualized therapy, attending morning meditation and evening educational sessions and on-campus 12-step programs. Patients also have access to Brighton’s intensive outpatient alcohol rehab program and services that were available to them as an inpatient. This includes medical care, treatment for their alcohol addiction, and a psychiatric medical review. “Our programs are individualized to each patient and it is what we offer with both inpatient and continuing care that sets our program and our facility apart from others in the country,” says Ken VanElslander, Director of Brighton Center for Recovery.
