Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program for Teens ages 13-17

All types of drug and alcohol addiction are devastating.  However, to witness a young person’s life turned inside out by the pain and suffering of drug and alcohol addiction is especially difficult.  Brighton Center for Recovery understands how to reach out to these teens and help them in their fight against the disease of addiction.  We have a first class Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP) which provides drug and alcohol treatment to teens and adolescents ages 13-17.   This program was created specifically to deal with issues that teens face when dealing with drug and alcohol addiction.  Although research indicates that teen drug abuse has declined for some substances over the past 5 years, it also shows that the abuse of other substances is significantly on the rise.  Research from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) indicates that the abuse of prescription medication, such as Vicodin and Oxycontin, has been increasing since 2005.  According to NIDA, 50% of the teens using these drugs obtain them from friends and family.

At Brighton Center for Recovery we utilize multiple types of addiction treatment therapy for adolescents and their families, depending upon individual and family needs.  Patients undergo a thorough assessment by a team of certified nurses, physicians, and therapists to determine the appropriate level of addiction treatment.  Through regional partnerships, the Brighton Center for Recovery Adolescent Drug Rehab Program will enable teens and their families to get thesubstance abuse treatment they need. The program involves individual counseling, family and group addiction treatment therapy, access to family support groups, adolescent chemical dependency education, transportation and aftercare.

  • The treatment focuses on increasing motivation to address substance abuse, education about substance abuse, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • The therapy is designed to assist the adolescent in gaining insight into his or her behavior and to develop skills to remain abstinent from alcohol and other drugs.

Parent’s observations and feedback are critical to the adolescents’ success. Parents may be asked to participate in some sessions.

  • The adolescent enters the “Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program” (AIOP) is a combination of group therapy and educational segments for 12 sessions.

AIOP sessions meet every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

At any point in the program, should your teen struggle to remain abstinent, our team will work with the patient and family to secure a referral to an adolescent inpatient treatment facility.

The program involves education about substance abuse, offers guidance and support to parents and addresses the impact of substance abuse on other family members.  Parents of adolescents attend a mandatory Parent Support and Education group during some of the adolescent AIOP sessions.
