Activity Therapy Programs
Interact with others… have fun without use.
One key step in the recovery process is for addicts to learn how to have a fulfilling and fun-filled life sober. Our approach to treatment therapy through sports and recreational activities encourages patients to learn new skills, interact with others through team sports such as volleyball and softball, or simply remain in shape. Since exercise triggers the brain’s natural endorphins (feel good chemicals), enjoyable physical activities are encouraged to assist in a lifelong recovery from substance abuse. This is healthy, active fun that benefits both the mind and body. We have a well-equipped gymnasium and two full circuits of state-of-the-art exercise equipment to serve those at all levels of fitness.
All drug and alcohol treatment patients receive an individual recreation assessment as well as a healthy living and recreation plan prior to discharge. We strongly encourage our patients to keep up with the skills and activities they learned in program, as they are crucial to a healthy, sober existence.
Our therapy programs balance the rigors of clinical treatment with recreational fun. Just a few of the activities in which patients are encouraged to participate include:
- Anger Management
- Art Therapy
- Auricular Acupuncture (ear acupuncture)
- Running
- Relaxation and Meditation
- Softball
- Tennis
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Weight Training
- Yoga
- Recovery Massage

Although these activities are designed to be enjoyable, they also teach critical skills needed for self care, a key element in recovery. We feel that by participating in these activities while in drug treatment, patients learn to live a healthier and happier lifestyle and have a better chance for a successful recovery.
