Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Training for Medical Students
Brighton Center for Recovery is a national leader in not only drug and alcohol addiction treatment, but also in training for medical students. We understand that our facility is only as good as the staff that we employee. Therefore, we seek out the most experienced, highly qualified and compassionate addiction treatment staff. In addition, we lead the nation in training for drug and alcohol treatment specialists. We offer fellowships for medical students, advanced degrees for nurses and specialized addiction training rotations for social workers.
Since 2006, the addiction medicine fellowship provides medical training and education in drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This is a comprehensive program giving fellows education in all areas of substance abuse treatment. This includes outpatient care, detoxification, rehabilitation and consultation. Each month at Brighton Center for Recovery we have training rotations for nursing, medical and social work students. This helps to expand the knowledge and understanding of the disease of chemical addiction. Although not all students who take part in Brighton Center for Recovery’s programs will end up in the addiction medicine field, the education and training they receive will benefit them greatly in other medical and social work careers.
