Dr. Allen came to Brighton Hospital in October 2006, as a part-time physician in our drug treatment facilities. He is in primary care practice in the Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Allen was voted Resident of the Month at the John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Medical Center and was a presenter at a lecture series for Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He also has worked with teenage mothers at the Nancy Boydkins Secondary Education Center. Dr. Allen also spends his time volunteering at many health fairs and is deeply involved with his church.
Because of the expertise and commitment of Dr. Allen, and the rest of the staff at Brighton’s drug treatment facilities, we are mending lives. Our multidisciplinary team of alcohol and drug treatment experts know that chemical dependency is a disease – not a weakness. Every Brighton Hospital addiction treatment expert receives annual service excellence training. This is reflected by patient satisfaction scores exceeding 90 percent. Plus, having established America’s first Fellowship in Addiction Medicine in a clinical setting, we lead the nation in the medical education for specialists choosing to work in drug treatment facilities. In addition, we help expand the understanding and knowledge of drug and alcohol treatment through regular rotations of nursing, medical and social work students.
