Michigan Parks and Recreation Areas Near Brighton

Brighton Recreation Area
Located just west of the city of Brighton, this 4,900-acre park has a combination of high, irregular hills interspersed with a number of attractive lakes for swimming, fishing and canoeing.

Highland State Recreation Area
With trails to accommodate equestrian riders, mountain bikers, hikers and skiers, this 5,900-acre site offers activities for all seasons. Four lakes within the park, located northeast of the city of Brighton, allow ample fishing and boating.

Huron Meadows Metropark
This 1,540-acre metropark features an outstanding golf course, a fishing pier, walking trails and other amenities. The park is just south of the city of Brighton.

Island Lake State Recreation Area
Just east of the city of Brighton, this 4,000-acre park features swimming, fishing, canoeing, a picnic area, mountain biking and more.

Kensington Metropark
This 4,481-acre metropark draws more than 2.5 million visitors each year. It features an 18-hole regulation golf course, nature center, farm learning center, picnic areas, beaches, boat rentals and more. Its wooded, hill terrain surrounds beautiful Lake Kent, just east of the city of Brighton.

Proud Lake State Recreation Area
More than 20-miles of trails cover this 4,700-acre park, located east of the city of Brighton. Park visitors can enjoy fishing, canoeing, bridle trails, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and more.
